An ancient legend spoke of a sacred time for the renewal of the human spirit. The Muses of Inspiration gave a blessing to earth and opened a window of opportunity for human beings to make a new start. All human mistakes, regrets, and errors of judgment are erased in this phase by the primordial fires. This is the time when fear of failure can be transformed into strength and purpose. We are taught that the human soul can ask the universe and ourselves to transform the flames of regret into the torch for fulfilled dreams and to ignite the flame of burning desire.
To keep its power from being misused for anything less than honorable, the legend was kept secret and was placed in each child born to the earth. Every new baby is born with the seed of truth and the germ for their purpose in life. The spark will glow and take root if the person pursues their heart’s desires. The ember will become cold if the person chooses the path of least resistance, and settles for a life that is less than ideal. The birth of the New Year was the magical moment when all sparks can be renewed and united into a glorious blaze full of triumph.
Legend of the Sleeping Giants
Each year of human existence passed, and the flames of truth that remained in the hearts of humanity grew dimmer. The nine sister Muses were the guardians of inspiration and sadness for the human race. Did the humans not realize that their lives were meant for love and abundance? They lived like small, insignificant insects. Did they not realize that they were Giants with the ability to create miracles? They couldn’t see how magnificent and beautiful they were. They chose suffering over joy. How can they make poverty more important than wealth? They chose anger over love. They didn’t realize that they could create a world full of joy. It was almost as if the veil of darkness had fallen upon the earth, and people became victims of life rather than the Victor’s original intent. A human could simply follow their heart and keep their thoughts away from negativity, and then focus on their love.
Being of one mind, the nine sister Muses declared Strife a moratorium and began to find a way to help the human race that was sleeping. To restore earth’s balance, they called on the Ancient Ones.
To free humans’ minds from the past, they occupied Mnemosyn (Memory). Each spirit could begin anew with a clean slate. These gifts were requested by the Muses to be bestowed upon humankind.
Eros (Love), fills the heart first with compassion for oneself, then with that peace comes unconditional, loving love which flows to other people.
Himerus (Desire), a person who lives in delight and breathes new life into each heart with the spark of truth, renewing the passion for life.
Father Time gave humans a window to purge their past. The past must be finished by midnight on December 31st every year. All issues must be burnt in the fires for the rebirth to take place.
The Muses invoked the wisdom, collective strength, and power of the ancient Gods, Goddesses, to help the people face their fears and make amends.
Zelus (Emulation), gave humans the ability recognize the gifts and qualities of others and to see their mentors.
Cratos (Strength), fortified the human will and gave it the courage to face the challenges that were necessary for the human spirit.
Eos (Dawn), promised a new start every 24 hours, and Helious (Sun), gave warmth and encouragement. Soliel (Moon), promised rest and recuperation for the body.
Eunomia (Order), reminds us of the first law, order in all things. For as our inner world is revealed, so are our outer world.
Dike (Justice), reminds people to forgive all debts, correct all wrongs, and let go of those who have hurt them. For we are forgiven when we forgive.
Eirene (Peace), is the quiet mind that allows us to hear our inner voice and guide us to our true truth.
Charities (Graces), endow the human spirit gentleness so that we tread lightly upon this earth and bless all those we meet.
The sister Muses saw that the stage was being set for a glorious rebirth, and they decided to make this decree.
“Everyone who accepts these gifts and blesses one another with forgiveness and grace will be freed from the pain and regrets of their past mistakes.” They will receive the guidance and protection from Metis (Thought), and the gifts of Nike (“Victory”) in the next year.
The Muses warned humanity to protect their dreams from negative events and people. Tell only one person who will cherish your vision as much as you do when you nurture the seeds of possibility. To ensure only positive thoughts are entertained, build a wall around your mind. You will get the best results according to the laws of the Universe. You will reap the harvest of your thoughts. To reap abundance, you must be vigilant in planting thoughts of love and positive energy. Calliope, chief of all the Muses, sent this blessing to the earth.
“Children in the Universe, it is the time for renewal.” You must end the cycle of the past by midnight on December 31st. Forgive yourself and your siblings, be grateful for your blessings, and stake your claim to your future.
With this gift, humanity’s hearts began to burn brightly and glow with the realization of its potential. As we reached out to touch the lives of everyone around us, the Muses as well as the heavens saw our light shine brighter and brighter. We exchanged our weapons for plowshares, so we could feed one another. With each new life, we were able to share our gifts with the less fortunate, and the gifts of joy and abundance filled all of humanity’s lives.
