5. STEERING-WHEEL LOCKING BAR (THE CLUB)
It is commonly known as “The Club” by Austinites. Not all agents offer this discount, since it must be activated manually (physically) and can be easily removed by experienced thieves. Phil, an agent from Progressive, said that while his company doesn’t offer the discount, he knows of other Austin agents who do.
6. AUTOMATICALLY ARMED CAR ALARM
This alarm activates automatically when the Austinite driver locks his or her doors (key or remote control), and even closes his or her doors.
AIG and other large insurers may offer discounts on automatic alarms but not manual-armed ones.

7. AUTOMATIC CAR ALARM
Phil from Progressive said that most insurance companies offer a 2% discount. This type of alarm must be manually activated by Austinite drivers. They typically use a key-ring remote control or a manual punch pad. This is a manual activation type of alarm, so the discount offered by Austin (TX), auto insurance agencies is either lower or non-existent.

8. VIN WINDOW GLAZ ETCHING
Visit your Austin mechanic to have your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), etched into the glass of your car’s windows. You can either ask your Austinite dealer, auto hobby shop, or do it yourself.

9. LO-JACK- AUTO RECOVERY SYTEM
It is known as the “Lo-Jack” by Austinite drivers. It is the most powerful anti-theft device available. It is made up of a transponder, which allows you to track your car by the Austin police. A local driver, we’ll call him John D. policyholder to keep his anonymity, was able to make a $334.46 savings on a bi-annual AIG policy!

10. ENGINE ELECTRONIC IMMOILIZER
