1. Contact Customer Service
Blue Cross Blue Shield customer service offers various ways for members with questions or issues related to their coverage to reach them: you can call the number on your member ID card to connect with a representative; alternatively, log into Blue Access for Members account for further details regarding claims, benefits and more.

2. Fill Out a Cancellation Form
When canceling a Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance Illinois policy, submitting a cancellation form is necessary. You can either submit it by phone or online; to begin this process contact customer service using the number located on the back of your Blue Access for Members card and request it from there.

In response to COVID-19 pandemic concerns, Governor Pritzker recently signed an executive order reopening ACA Marketplace Special Enrollment Period until May 15, 2021.

Your Marketplace coverage can end the same day or on another date that’s convenient, such as when another health plan begins on that particular date.
As part of its response to COVID-19 pandemic, Congress passed legislation to ensure you would not lose health insurance when canceling. This is known as continuous coverage. But in future eligibility checks (also called renewals or redeterminations checks) must resume; when your coverage renewal date arrives on June 1, 2023 you will receive your renewal notice.
3. Send the Cancellation Form
There should be a toll free number listed somewhere on your card or email for you to contact to cancel your Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance Illinois policy. 4. Receive a Cancellation Notice
Insurance companies must give you at least 30 days’ notice if they plan to cancel your coverage, giving you time to appeal or find alternative coverage options. They should also inform you about how you can exercise this right of appeal; should a health insurer deny or terminate coverage without providing evidence to support its position, you have the option to appeal this decision and have it reviewed by an impartial third-party review panel.
A new law prevents insurance companies from cancelling your coverage because of mistakes you or your employer made on the application, or from demanding you reimburse medical care that’s already been received. It protects people who either have an Affordable Care Act Marketplace plan or an off-Marketplace plan; during open enrollment or special enrollment periods you can make adjustments.

Blue Choice Preferred PPO will replace PPO plans in Chicago area hospitals like Lurie Children’s Hospital, Northwestern Memorial and Rush University that don’t participate. Furthermore, many top doctors do not accept Blue Choice as their medical coverage option.
