Prospect for New Clients With Your Own Insurance Blog

Share your knowledge and get professional advice

Publishing your own insurance blog on Facebook or LinkedIn is a great way to connect with qualified prospects. It’s fast, easy, and free. And it works.

Because people do actually read what you post on Facebook and LinkedIn.

They also pass them on to their network.

How To Write Your Own Insurance Blog

Agents often think blogging takes too much time and requires great writing skills. But it doesn’t. If you just write what you know and in a conversational style. Your weekly blog should not exceed 200 to 300 words. It can take anywhere from ten to twenty minutes for you to create and publish your blog – only once per week.

Write a blog as if you were speaking. Write as if you were speaking to someone face-to-face. Do not worry about grammar, just write.

It’s easy once you get the hang of it.

Don’t use insurance jargon or explain different types of coverage on your insurance blog. You should not use technical terms or insurance terms. You should write as if you were talking to a friend over the phone or sitting at a table with a cup of tea.

Your insurance blog can be thought of as sharing a thought with clients and prospects. Always end your blog with a “call to action”

Create your insurance blog

There are many options (mostly free) for blogging platforms. These are the top five I recommend:

  • Blogger – A Google owned blog platform which is quick and easy to set up
  • Tumblr is more like a “microblog”, which is a mix between a blog or Twitter.
  • WordPress is the most well-known and established blogging platform. Many plugins and features available.
  • SquareSpace – Commercial blogging platform starting at $8/month
  • Posterous – an easy-to-use “email to-blog” platform. Send emails to create new posts

Many, if not all, of these options allow you to post blogs to your Facebook or LinkedIn pages.
