Insurance Sales Success – Reason Number 1 You Can’t Sell

You believe your failures or lack of success are the fault of someone else. OK: Your sales manager is a jerk. The underwriters have just destroyed a perfectly good product. No one is giving you marketing materials. Everyone already has an agent. All that may be true, but it is up to you to make sure you succeed. The first step to success in insurance sales is to realize that you are the only person who can make it happen, regardless of what’s happening.

It’s easy for you to feel depressed and discouraged when you don’t have the sales skills or are stuck. You will need to make a conscious effort to change your thinking. Your past experiences and how you have viewed them can influence your current thoughts.

There are two components to overcome reason number 1. It is not about rah rah motivation. You must be self-leadership and expect the best. It is possible to have the best mindset and outlook, but still fail in sales. Positive thinking and attitude are good for making you pleasant and selling to others. However, just thinking happy thoughts will not make you a salesperson.

It is not about being born with leadership qualities. Leadership is a skill that can be learned. Leadership is about helping others achieve their goals. Leaders see the world as it really is and are open to accepting it. Leaders take responsibility for their results and don’t blame others. Leaders do the things that others won’t in order to achieve results others don’t. Leaders are responsible for their success and their failures.

Accepting every situation is a sign of opportunity. Opportunities can exist even in the most difficult situations. You can be happy that you are having trouble selling anything. But, if you learn the right lessons now, you’ll never regret it. There have been clients who were extremely successful for the first two years, but then their success stopped. I helped them realize that they had been accidentally successful during their period of great success.
